Jesse Ingram is a native Washingtonian and Ballou High School graduate. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Howard University in 1991 and his Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Florida A&M University (FAMU) in 1995. In 1996, as part of a FAMU faculty exchange program, he traveled to Pretoria, South Africa where he taught mechanical engineering courses for two years.  He describes the experience as a life changing because it broadened his perspective on Africa and the world. After leaving South Africa, Jesse was hired as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Engineering at Prince George’s Community College, where he taught for almost four years. He then accepted a position as a company officer and an acquisition consultant at Mathematical Modeling Inc, (MMI) a small, minority owned firm. There he developed his technical writing skills and his understanding of the Defense Acquisition System. After leaving MMI, Jesse joined BAE systems where he presently serves as a Department of Defense Acquisition Systems consultant and is involved in several of BAE’s science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) outreach initiatives.

Throughout his professional career Jesse has been active in volunteer activities that promote STEM education. He is especially proud of his membership in the National Society of Black Engineers Alumni Extension Washington, DC (NSBE-AEDC) Chapter where he served as Pre-College Initiative (PCI) Co-Chair for many years and currently serves as Chapter President. Through NSBE-AEDC Jesse has helped facilitate STEM summits, math and engineering workshops, robotics competitions, and educational talks; and he has helped attract sponsorship for the Chapter’s scholarship program that awards scholarships to high school seniors who will pursue STEM majors in college. When Jesse is not consulting or volunteering with NSBE, he enjoys reading, basketball, tennis, bowling, live jazz, and culturally enriching plays and concerts.
